Eriswell Lodge 2nd August 2025

On Saturday 2nd August 2025 SMaCSS hosted it’s summer clay shooting event at Eriswell Lodge Shooting ground. This shoot was predominantly to raise funds for charities that support our Armed Forces and  military veterans, those chosen being SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Family Association) and the Army Benevolent Fund and timing aligned with Armed Forces Day on 31st August 2025.

The day kicked off with an English breakfast which gave a great opportunity for the 53 competitive shooters to meet, greet and swap stories and predictions on their respective scores for the day. We had a number of ex serving military personnel which added to the rivalry and usual sandbagging.

A welcome and introduction was warmly  conducted by our Chairman Roger Nash (Deputy Provincial Grand Master) before heading out to the shooting ground. Eriswell Lodge had put together some fantastic challenging targets which were enjoyed by everyone, some more than others. To add a final twist to the day, Vice chairman Shane Brereton added a ‘snooker’ pool shoot; a novel idea based on snooker but with clay targets from various traps and a point scoring system to depict red and coloured balls as on the snooker table.  Much fun was had by all who took part.

Overall, another fantastic day at Eriswell Lodge shooting ground which allowed us to raise £1,400 for those chosen charities. We wish to thank Stuart and Melissa at Eriswell for their hospitality and also thank those that came along and shot with us. We couldn’t do it without your support. Thank you.
