Chairman
Roger Nash
I’ve been shooting since I was old enough to hold an air rifle and clay and game shooting since my teens. Being brought up in farming and the supply industry and living on a farm I suppose it was just part of country life. I started running charity clay shoots for my employer as a customer PR event in the mid nineties and continued to run them until I retired.
I’ve been a Freemason for almost twenty five years now and in the early 2000’s a Masonic friend suggested that we might run a clay shoot to raise funds for EACH to help them with their Treehouse Appeal for the new Hospice in Ipswich. It proved very successful so we carried on for another ten years or so. There were a hard core of shooters who attended most of the shoots and we decided to form a Masonic shooting club, so SMaCSS was born. I took on the role of Chairman and have continued in the role ever since. I’m a BASC and CPSA member but have only really shot for the enjoyment of it, I keep meaning to enter some Registered competitions but have never been able to find the time; next year perhaps!’
Vice Chairman
Shane Brereton
Hi I’m Shane Brereton, I am an ex-military veteran and I have been living here in Suffolk since 2005. I originally started shooting with the army but due to deployments I didn’t really get into clay shooting until joining freemasonry in 2012. Prior to the formation of SMaCSS I shot for the West Lancs Masons alongside my father, wife and daughter.
In 2015 the National Association of Masonic Clay Shooting Societies (NAMCSS) was formed and certain rules introduced one of which was that to take part in and run a masonic national shoot we would have to be a member of a masonic shooting society. I approached Roger Nash with an idea of starting our own, in 2015 I assumed the role of Honorary Treasurer and alongside three others, Roger Nash, Paul Ruffles and Bob Rudd SMaCSS was formed.
Since 2012 I have attended every national and international masonic shoot and try to support most of the larger masonic shoots throughout the uk along with a small group of SMaCSS members. I love shooting but enjoy the social side and meeting new friends.

Secretary
Phil Ramsey
Hi I’m Phil Ramsey.
For several years I have been involved in Secretary activities for SMaCSS and, along with the rest of the Committee, have been involved in organising and participating in most Masonic charitable shoots.
I have been Clay Shooting for over 30 years and very enthusiastic about my sport. My highlights being that I’ve shot in the British Nationals a few times with success in my CPSA class. I am a regular CPSA shooting participant and have had the fortune to shoot many grounds throughout southern England in competition.
In 2018 I became a CPSA qualified referee.
I am very passionate about Clay Shooting either in a competitive or social context. I enjoy supporting all like-minded shooters whether it be for mutual commiseration or to celebrate success in the bar afterwards.
Treasurer
Lisa Brereton
Hi I’m Lisa Brereton,
I am married to Shane and we have lived here in Suffolk since 2005. I originally started shooting after getting bored of following the rest of the family around pressing buttons and playing taxi. I have been shooting for around 5 years and thoroughly enjoy the sport.
I have been a member of SMaCSS since it was formed and have always actively supported our shoots. I hope to bring more women into shooting and eventually to have our own team.
Since 2015 I have travelled up and down uk supporting as many masonic and non-masonic shoots as possible even taking part in the Essex masters.
I have a financial background and recently took over the role of Treasurer for SMaCSS.
Committee Member
Simon Glinos
My name is Simon Glinos.
I have been a member of SMACSS for about 4 years.
I started shotgun shooting over 35 years ago and mainly shoot clays, with the occasional Game/pest control outing. I am also a member of 3 rifle clubs and have completed the NRA Club Instructor and RCO courses, although my main focus is on social clay shooting.
Being part of the organisation that puts social/charity shoots together enables me to “put something back “into both Masonry as well as feeling that I am doing my bit for “Society” by way of helping to raise funds for good causes.
I also very much enjoy the social side of these events and meeting with like minded shooters, both Masonic and those others who come along support us as “Associate Members” and have also organised a “beginner event” that was open to both Masons and non-Masons ( when the current situation has eased, there will be further such events organised ).
Media
Dale Parker
Hi I’m Dale Parker.
I have been a member of SMaCSS for quite a few years, joining after attending one of the shoots in the early days. Since then I have participated in and helped to organise along with the rest of the committee numerous Masonic Charitable shoots and early on this year I was asked if I would take over the running of the media side of SMaCSS.
I have been Shooting for over 40 years not only clay but rifle and game.  I am a part-time keeper and love all aspects of shooting. I am very passionate about clay shooting and shoot most weekends, I have travelled all over UK shooting and have attend most large Masonic Clay shoots over the years.
In 2018 I became a CPSA qualified referee.
Though not a tech guru I hope my time with SMaCSS is productive and helpful.

Committee Member
Neil Tweed
Hi I’m Neil,
I have been a sporting shooter for many years, my disciplines include Clay Shooting and both small and full bore target rifle shooting. I try to shoot at least one of these disciplines each week, I am a CPSA registered safety officer and a member of five sporting shooting clubs of which I am safety officer for two of them, a committee member of one and Vice Chairman of another along with being the past Secretary of SMaCSS.
I am a member of Doric Lodge Woodbridge in the province of Suffolk , the things I enjoy most about being part of the SMaCSS team is combining my love of the sport with the ability to raise funds for charities along with providing a platform for individuals to enjoy participating in group shoots with as much or as little competitiveness as they wish and along with encouraging people new to to sport, young shots and those shooters who may be less experienced to take part in our social activities.
